Changing when Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall loads during Windows startup

Reconfigure Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall to start manually

Start Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.

Click Options.

Click Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.

Under Startup, click Manual.

Click OK.

STEP 3
Place a shortcut to the program in the Windows Startup folder

Expand the section for your version of Windows:

I use Windows XP/2000

Start Windows Explorer.

Open the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder.

On the File menu, click New > Shortcut.

In the Create Shortcut Wizard, type the following text, including the quotation marks:

"C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Symmoni.exe" /load

Click Next.

In the Select a Title for the Program panel, type a name for the shortcut, such as "Norton Internet Security Startup."

Click Finish.

I use Windows Me/9x/NT

Start Windows Explorer.

Open the folder for your version of Windows:

In Windows Me/9x, open the C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder.
In Windows NT, open the C:\WinNT\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder.

On the File menu, click New > Shortcut.

In the wizard, type the following text, including the quotation marks:

"C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Symmoni.exe" /load

Click Next.

Type an appropriate name, such as "Norton Internet Security Startup" in the box for the name.

Click Finish.
