How to disable WinFax integration with Outlook 2000
Situation:
You have problems with Outlook 2000 while WinFax PRO/TalkWorks PRO is running even though you do not have them integrated. The symptoms may include:
- Outlook not closing and logging off properly
- improper Outlook Profiles loading during startup
- MAPI related error messages
Solution:
NOTE:
You must already have updated to release WinFax PRO 9.03 or TalkWorks PRO 2.03 before performing these steps. Previous versions of WinFax or TalkWorks do not include integration for Outlook 2000. You can download and install the WinFax PRO 9.03 or TalkWorks PRO 2.03 update by running LiveUpdate from the Help menu in Message Manager. You can also find this update in the Symantec File Downloads area for WinFax PRO 9.0 or TalkWorks PRO 2.0.
You might still have partial integration. To verify that there is no integration, follow these steps:
To disable the Outlook Integration:
1. Disable Exchange / Outlook Integration from within the Message Manager.
- In Message Manager, click Tools, point to Setup, and click Program Setup.
- Double-click Microsoft Exchange/Outlook.
- Uncheck Use Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Outlook in WinFax.
- Click OK, and click Close.
- Exit Message Manager and Controller, and then restart.
2. Disable WinFax from within Outlook.
- In Outlook, click Tools, and click Services.
- Select WinFax PRO, click Remove, and click OK
- Click Tools, and click Services.
- Select Options, and click Advanced.
- Click Add-In Manager, and uncheck DCCExtensions.
- Click OK, and then close Outlook.
3. Rename Integration Files.
- Exit all open programs and stop the WinFax PRO service if you are running Windows NT.
- Click Start, point to Find, and click Files or Folders. The Find dialog box appears.
- From the Look In drop-down list, select the drive on which you installed WinFax PRO/TalkWorks PRO.
- Check Include subfolders (if not already checked.)
- In the Named field, type wfxext.dll and click Find Now. Windows displays all files matching the search criteria.
- Select the found file, click File, and click Rename.
- Rename the file to: wfxext.old and click OK. The file will be renamed.
- Repeat these steps for the following files as well. (Rename the extension to .old):
Dccmsp32.dll
Dccwfp32.dll
Wfoladin.dll
- Restart the system when finished.
